Ideas for the “Holiday of Love”

Valentines Day doesn’t have to be cheesy.  Let’s redeem this season!  I want to offer you a few ways to make it a valuable and memorable part of your homeschool year:

1. Love Lapbook

Learn about the real meaning of Love.  Our culture throws that word around in a flippant manner as if it is a mood of the moment.  Real, biblical love is so much more.  Teach your kids the real meaning of love with scripted lessons and crafts all about biblical love.  Best of all, your child’s work is displayed in a fun and memorable lapbook they can interact with for years to come!

2. Fun and Easy Snacks

We all know the best way to teach your kids something is to show them.  Little things that seem simple to us, get etched in their brains.  I scoured the internet for fun, super-easy and healthy snacks that are sure to make your kids smile.  These ideas were definitely the best!  Don’t worry, most of these only require the food items and a heart-shaped cutout!  I am excited to surprise my crew with a few of these!

3. Simple Decorations

Simple Valentine Decorations

The best decorations are the ones that are easy to set up and easy to put away.  I’m just an overall advocate of simplicity and the “less-is-more” mentality.  A simple table runner, a couple of candles and THESE FREE PRINTABLES, make an simple focus on love for the season.  Download your free copy!  Three Scriptures in three different designs!

4. Teach Them to Give

I am a big fan of gifts that cost time and thoughtfulness rather than money.  Let’s value acts of service over material items!  Here is a fun free printable my daughter found that includes Valentine Coupon Cards for kids and parents!

I hope this season finds you encouraged.  Winter can be a season fueled primarily by perseverance as the day-to-day becomes monotonous and winter winds blow.  As we reflect on the love God shows for us in the midst of our weakness, I pray that this “season of love” is one that is treasured by your family for years to come.

In Him,
