Ideas for the “Holiday of Love”

Valentines Day doesn't have to be cheesy.  Let's redeem this season!  I want to offer you a few ways to make it a valuable and memorable part of your homeschool year:   1. Love Lapbook Learn about the real meaning of Love.  Our culture throws that word around in a flippant manner as if it is a mood of the moment.  Real, biblical love is so much more.  Teach your kids the real meaning of love with scripted lessons and crafts all about biblical love.  Best of all, your child's work is displayed … [Read more...]

It’s Finally Here!!!…Public Speaking for Kids!

Teaching Kids Public Speaking

Hi Friends! It's finally here and I am sooooo excited!!!  Woot Woot!  This project that I have been laboring over for months and months is officially available for download, and it is absolutely one of my favorite resources now.  Even my husband - who would rather be on the farm with the cattle - proof-read the entire thing and was excited at how easy the resource would be for parents and instructors to implement, and how many skills the kids could learn each week.  Let me tell you a bit more … [Read more...]

The One Subject That We Can’t Afford to Neglect…

There is one subject that we, as classical educators intend to do well, but possibly fall short.  This particular subject is GUARANTEED to be used in our kids lives, and I would argue is a skill rapidly disappearing from our culture.  In fact, I believe this one skill will determine more of your child's future than his/her math scores or science studies.  I am talking about the art of communication.  Specifically, Public Speaking - or at the elementary stage - Presentations.    I get it!  Monday … [Read more...]

I’m So Excited, And I Just Can’t Hide It…

My family is starting to roll their eyes when mom bounces by them because I AM SOOO EXCITED!  Friends, I have been working so hard on some projects here in rural Wisconsin, and they are all coming together at the same time.  Totally exhilarating, and crazy busy all at once! I started one project in August of 2017, and it has been an ongoing challenge and team effort to bring it to fruition.  It is the first project that I had to team up with some specialists on, but y'all, I am completely giddy … [Read more...]

Clear a Path For Your Kids

Clear a Path for Your Kids

We live on a farm in the midwest, raising beef cows, corn, and kids.  The farm has some land that we till into crops, and some land that we leave as pasture for the cows.  There is also some land dense with natural trees of all sorts.  The prior owner had spent time clearing paths through these woods so you could walk or drive through and catch a glimpse of wildlife. In order to make the trails, and keep the weeds and starter trees from taking over, you have to continue to mow them.  If you … [Read more...]

How To Have a Bad Day

How To Have A Bad Day

Occasionally, things just conspire to try to make you have a bad day... It starts with an inch of water leaking from underneath the shower, discovered two days before your parents are visiting out of town and will need to use said shower.  Then, when you decide to use the "self-clean" feature on the oven for the first time (because your mom is coming and by golly, she was a home-economics teacher who would cringe at the sight of your oven), the interior glass on the door spontaneously shatters … [Read more...]
