Day Four:
Activity List
By now you should have 2-3 sentences that outline your general Vision statements or objectives as a family, and taken a look at your activities to make sure they align with those objectives. You have also identified the amount of sleep each member in your family needs, and developed a start and end time to your day by identifying a bedtime and rise time (and nap times) for each member of your family.
Today's Mission:
Make a list of all of the activities in your day – include activities that would be found under any family member that you are scheduling. For example, a nap might be on the baby's schedule, but probaly not on yours (unfortunately!) so you would include nap on your overall list. Also include on this list not only what you ARE doing, but what you WISH you (or another family member) were doing. For example, maybe you would like your oldest to have their own Bible devotions, or maybe you would like to have your child learn the piano, etc. We are just brainstorming a list. You do not have to worry about when you will do the activity, how you will fit it in, what time of the day to do it, or anything like that! Just make a list for each activity! You will want to be detailed. Instead of just saying go to bed, you might want to list bathtime, brushing teeth, etc as separate activities. If you homeschool, you may want to list school subjects separately (math, spelling, science, etc.).
The FANTASTIC NEWS IS……..wait for it……...I have created an excel spreadsheet that will make the entire scheduling process SO MUCH EASIER FOR YOU! (In fact, I wish I had developed it this way the first time I did my schedule, but live and learn…)
If you have already downloaded my schedule in the past, this is totally different – it will pre-populate a drop-down fields as you go – saving you lots of time! The final schedule will be broken down into 30 minute increments. But promise me you won't skip ahead – only complete the Activity list tab today. We will move onto the other tabs next week! I have pre-populated the Activity list with some basic activities you might find in your home. You can add to, or modify this list to reflect your unique family!
