A number of weeks ago I was delighted to find the Good Morning Girls website – where a group of women gather to encourage one another to dig into the Word daily. A new series just started on Monday and I am so excited to join in! It's not too late! You can jump in on the fun and accountability! Or better yet, start your own small group to follow along as well!
Anyway, I have learned through our grammar-stage classical school studies that even this old brain can memorize a TON when it is set to music. I wanted to not only be in the Word, but to commit it to heart. The Colossians study is 8 weeks long, so that would give me 8 weeks to memorize it. I knew I needed a song to help me, so I made one! You can download the song for Colossians 1:1-14 HERE, or on my Freebies page. The scripture to follow along with the music can be found HERE. Verses 1:15-23 will be ready next week.
I really encourage you to join in with the Good Morning Girls and not only discipline yourself to be in the Word daily, but enjoy fellowship with other Christian women without having to get a babysitter!! Join a group today, and join in on memorizing Colossians!
Much love to you all in Christ alone,
Karen, I posted this on the GMG page but then found your site, so forgive the duplication. 🙂 Thanks so much for setting our text to music. I would love to memorize Colossians but was wondering how I would do it and then along came your music! My question is this: which version are you using to memorize? I find I need to be able to see the text while I hear the music in order to really memorize it and I wasn't sure which translation it is. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks so much!
Hi Samantha! So glad it can help us commit this truth to memory!
I am using the NIV found Here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+1&version=NIV
I am hoping to have next week's song ready soon.
Karen – fellow CC mom and GMG girl, too, here. Can you tell me about the song that plays on your blog? Who is it and how to I get it? Maye it's you?
I am sorry…how DO I get it and Maybe it's you. It's early.
Hi Jana! If you are referring to the one that automatically plays on the blog when you pull it up, the music is "I'll Rise" by Michael O'Brien. It is from his "Be Still My Soul" CD. You can find it here on Amazon. If instead you are looking for the Colossians memory music, you can click on the link in the text above, and choose to save it to your computer when prompted. If you are not getting a prompt, try holding down the CTRL key when you click on the link. Hope this helps! Blessings, Karen
