Wow, this week has just FLOWN by! I have been working on a ton of projects and most importantly, we have really been doing well on working through all of our school work and adding in extras. This has been a great week. All weeks have challenges, but my Friday posts kickoff the weekend by remembering what went well. Here are my Favorites for this Friday:
Favorite Project
I found the oldest girl (7) a sewing machine at a local thrift shop for $20 bucks, and it works great! We have decided to make a blue-jean quilt from old pairs of jeans (our family and grandparents). While cutting apart some of the jeans yesterday, I had a fun thought that the tops of them would make a super-cute purse. So I set to work, and in less than an hour, this was looped over Becca’s shoulder! It was so fun! The outside is the back of the pants, thus a pocket on each side. On the inside, I sewed the two front panels together, and the front pockets automatically added compartments! So the center section divides the purse into two halves, with extra pockets on the inside. I just cut the bottom hem off of four pant-legs (two pairs of pants) sewed two of them together for two long strips and viola – the straps! I am sure it could have been much more fancy, but it was quick. easy and Becca loves it (I kinda like it myself!) Check out the pics:
Favorite Recipe
My friend makes the best Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!!! We wanted to ship some cookies to our favorite soldier, and I wanted something that would ship well and taste great. These are phenomenal! Don’t try one if you are trying to not eat sweets or they’ll make you crave them all day! (not that I am speaking from experience or anything….) This is a gigantic batch, so cut it in half and you will still have a lot of cookies. My friend uses less sugar and still thinks they are great. (I use all the sugar because, well, why not?) 🙂
SuAnn’s (ok, so credit actually goes to Nieman Marcus I guess) Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups sugar
5 cups blended oatmeal

1 (8 ounce) Hershey Bars ( grated)
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts ( your choice)
Directions
Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and soda. Add chocolate chips, grated Hershey Bar and nuts. Roll into 1 inch balls and place 2-inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375° or until golden.
Favorite “Robbyism” of the week (This is our kid who is “that kid” – the one who says exactly what he thinks….)
At my friend’s house who also homeschools and generously volunteered to watch the kids so I could get a haircut:
Robby (walking in the door) “Did you just wake up?”
Friend (offended) “No”
Robby “Oh, cause you look like you did!”
Nice Robby, Nice……

Haha! I love it! Kids will say anything!!
You are SO talented! What a great idea, and you just whipped it together in an hour!
